INTERIOR DESIGN CONCEPTS & STYLES

As an Interior designer, we need to familiarized to the different concepts and styles that can help us in our designing. Here are some styles that i learnt .

  1. MODERN MINIMALIST STYLE

This style is a form of extreme accuracy, nothing is too much, without heavy backgrounds. The emphasis is on simplicity, the wall colors may be default. Pieces are either geometric shapes – square, rectangle, round, but the surfaces are clean, no details. By having a stand out furniture this will balance up the looks of the interior. Overall looks of this style gives a rhythm of calmness, clean and light-filled spaces. through the subtle wall colors and simple design approach this will harmonize the feel and the concepts. 

2.  Classic style

It is a refined style that based on order, symmetry and balance.  The interiors is decorated with variety of elements that is rich details and repetitive symbols or accents such as leitmotif, cornices, columns and drapes window treatment  and expensive in materials such as marble, stucco and parquet. while the furniture are usually the high end ones and exquisite such as chandelier, leather sofas, carved cabinets and etc. As well as in sets, Prints. The furniture is the “art” type, carved or inlaid details and apply. Through all the movement of the element used in this style it creates a rhythm of  royalty and high-class.

3. Retro style

It is the style of 50’s, 60’s or 70’s. in that period it is anticipated design pieces to come.  their form and variety of elements such as colors and prints and the antique furniture on that era that we find in each piece.  Patterned of Prints with geometric shapes, lines, plaid or printed with illustrations belonging to the pop art style.through the movement of This style, it gives a rythm of playfulness, funny structure and some may be psychedelic.

4. Contemporary style

This style maintains a hot line through selected finishes and color range used. The rhythm seem trendy ,welcoming and ever changing. There are balance in this style through the default Colors on walls as such as white,black and neutral, the bespoke furniture and uncluttered and clean concept. varieties looks of Finishes , wood-veneer,solid wood doors with frames or appearance to look more polished and panels  sometimes may be characteristic of this style. Textile materials, velvet, plush, upholstery pieces with leather are often used in shaping the ambiance of this style. Printed plates, vegetable and floral color stains can not be used to amaze complete certain parts of decorated cushions, carpets, etc. through the movement of the character in this style it has to harmonies and compliment each other.

5) Elegant country style

This style can also be known as “Rural Chic” due to rustic and country feel. This style has the influences from English, french or Scandinavian classic style. The layout maybe balance and practical , but some might be cluttered due to the furniture. wall colours usually on the neutral light tone  in order to create an emphasise on the vintage yet luxurious furniture. However, this particular style may have a variety of elements that creates a visual flow  and coherency on the space such as, floral prints, patterns and traditional furniture. material that were used are leather, wood, wrought iron, lace or linen fabric. Surfaces are painted or sometimes have a slight patina. this style give a rhythm of welcoming, relaxing and warm feel.
